Meallmore Colleague Awards 2023 - Scottish Carers Win Top Awards

Top carers, nurses, and support staff from Scotland's leading care provider, Meallmore Ltd, have been honoured for their unwavering dedication at the 2023 Meallmore Colleague Awards.

This remarkable event, marking its 12th year, saw the return of the ceremony to the prestigious Dunblane Hydro, with over 200 attendees representing Meallmore's 26 care homes across the country.

Recognising Exceptional Dedication

Presented by the celebrated singer and TV personality, Michelle McManus, the awards were a heartwarming celebration of Meallmore employees who have made a positive impact on the lives of colleagues, residents, and their families throughout the past year.

With a total of 14 awards categories, including ‘Emerging Talent,’ ‘Excellence in Support Services,’ and the prestigious ‘Manager of the Year,’ this year's awards received an impressive surge in submissions, surpassing even the remarkable response seen in 2022.

A Special Tribute

The 2023 awards introduced a new category - ‘Brand Ambassador of the Year’ - underscoring the commitment to recognising excellence in every aspect of care provision.

However, it was the ‘Special Recognition Award’ that left a profound impact, bestowed upon three extraordinary individuals - Steve Gordon, Merralee (Mel) Walker, and Andrew Rodden. Their commendable response in preparing Daviot Care Home for evacuation during summer wildfires earned them accolades from the emergency services for their resilience and integrity in the face of an extraordinary situation.

A Collective Tribute

Nominations for all award categories poured in from residents and their families, visiting professionals, and fellow colleagues. With around 1,700 employees eligible for nominations, this collective recognition is a testament to the dedication that courses through every level of the Meallmore team.

Cillian Hennessey, Managing Director of Meallmore, expressed his immense pride in the colleagues and their dedication: “At Meallmore, we’re extremely proud of all our colleagues and their hard work and commitment. We regularly see individuals going the extra mile in providing the highest standards of care for our residents, and so this awards ceremony is a perfect opportunity to acknowledge them."

Celebrating Excellence

On presenting the awards, Michelle McManus added, “A huge congratulations goes to all the finalists and winners of the Meallmore Colleague Awards 2023. It was amazing to get involved with the award ceremony again this year, as being able to applaud those who work in the care sector is something I love to celebrate."

These awards are pivotal for Meallmore, serving as a platform to celebrate the dedication, compassion, and care that the team extends to residents across Scotland. They echo Meallmore’s unwavering commitment to providing the highest quality care and support to residents and reflect the dedication of a team driven by excellence.
