Redwoods Care Home is a purpose-built 42-bed home in Alness, set within the historic walled garden of a Victorian country estate. Surrounded by peaceful woodland, the home provides nursing care, specialist dementia care and short-stay respite care within a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Our colleagues take time to understand each resident as an individual. This includes their health and care needs, preferred routines, interests, relationships, communication preferences and the things that help them feel most comfortable.

Personalised care plans allow support to be shaped around the resident and reviewed as their needs or circumstances change. Families can also contribute valuable knowledge about the person's history, routines and preferences where appropriate.

Residents have access to private en-suite bedrooms, four spacious lounge and dining areas, a dedicated activities and reminiscence room, an on-site salon and secure landscaped gardens.

Daily life at Redwoods is shaped around individual choice. Residents may wish to join an activity, spend time with others, continue a personal hobby, enjoy the gardens, welcome visitors or have a quieter day.

Personalised nursing care in Alness

Redwoods provides 24-hour nursing care for residents whose health needs require ongoing support from qualified nurses.

Care is personalised around each person's health, medication, mobility, communication preferences, routines and overall wellbeing. Support can adapt as needs change, helping residents feel safe and reassured without making the home feel unnecessarily clinical.

Our aim is to provide dependable nursing care while protecting dignity, identity, personal choice and as much independence as possible. Palliative and comfort-focused support may also form part of the home's wider nursing provision when appropriate.

Our colleagues take time to understand each resident beyond their diagnosis, including their life story, familiar routines, communication preferences, relationships and interests.

The dedicated activities and reminiscence room provides an additional setting for hobbies, conversation and experiences shaped around each resident's abilities and preferences.

Families are an important part of dementia care and can help colleagues understand the memories, routines and relationships that matter most to the resident.

Respite care and short stays

Redwoods offers respite and short-stay care for people who need temporary support.

A respite stay may be helpful following illness, while a family carer takes a break or when someone would like to experience life at Redwoods before considering a longer-term move.

Care during a short stay is personalised around the resident's health needs, routines, abilities and preferences. Residents staying for respite care can enjoy the home's meals, activities, communal areas, salon and secure gardens. Availability and suitability should always be discussed directly with the home.

Comfortable en-suite bedrooms

Redwoods offers 42 en-suite bedrooms where residents can enjoy privacy and a comfortable personal space of their own.

Bedrooms include adjustable beds and emergency-call systems to support comfort, accessibility and reassurance.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their room with suitable photographs, decorations and familiar belongings. This can help the space feel recognisable, individual and genuinely homely. A private bedroom also gives residents somewhere to rest, welcome visitors or enjoy quieter time away from the home's communal areas.

Redwoods has four spacious lounge and dining areas, giving residents a choice of comfortable places in which to spend their day.

These spaces provide opportunities to enjoy meals, socialise, join an activity or spend time with visiting family and friends. Residents who prefer quieter time can relax in their bedroom or another peaceful area of the home.

The dedicated activities and reminiscence room supports hobbies, conversation and meaningful engagement, while the on-site salon helps residents maintain familiar personal-care routines without leaving the home.

Nutritious and enjoyable food is an important part of residents' health, comfort and daily routine.

Meals are prepared by the home's in-house catering colleagues and take account of individual dietary requirements, preferences and care needs.

The four lounge and dining areas provide welcoming settings where residents can enjoy meals and conversation. Mealtimes can be sociable occasions, while residents who prefer a quieter dining experience are also supported.

Redwoods is surrounded by peaceful woodland and has secure landscaped gardens where residents can enjoy fresh air and time outdoors.

Outdoor seating provides places to relax, enjoy the changing seasons or spend time with family and friends. Residents who enjoy gardening may also take part in suitable garden activities according to their interests, mobility and individual support needs.

At the heart of the grounds sits a dedicated coloured sensory garden, created specifically for residents living with dementia. Its bright planting, tactile textures and gentle, familiar scents provide calming stimulation, encourage reminiscence and support wellbeing in a safe, secure setting.
