Meallmore Ltd, a family-owned business, opened its first nursing home for the elderly in 1987 at Meallmore Lodge in Daviot, just south of Inverness. Since then, we have steadily grown our portfolio of care homes and built a team that takes pride in delivering exceptional care.
Over the years, our commitment to improving the lives of the elderly and vulnerable has been recognised through national caring awards. We strive to consistently be a great place to live and work, today and in the years to come.

A Journey of Excellence
Meallmore was founded with a simple but powerful vision: to create exceptional care environments where residents feel truly at home. In the early days, our founders recognised a need for high-quality, person-centred care in Scotland. They saw beyond the traditional care model, believing that every resident deserved not just medical support but also dignity, independence, and a meaningful quality of life. From these beginnings, Meallmore has grown into a trusted name, known for its compassionate staff, high standards, and commitment to innovation in care.
Meallmore opens its first home, Meallmore Lodge, just outside Inverness.
Meallmore Lodge is expanded with the addition of the Mackintosh wing (with the Drumboe wing added in 1997)
The company moves into the mental health sector with the construction of Kinmylies Lodge
Meallmore begins to expand with the acquisition of Crimond Care Home in Fraserburgh
The number of homes run by the company reaches 10, and in the same year, it employs its 500th team member
With the company now having grown, reaching new heights we established the Meallmore Colleague Awards.
Antonine House opens in Bearsden – Meallmore's 20th home to open since 1987.
History is made! Meallmore welcomes its 1000th resident
Mearns House opens in Newton Mearns - part of an ever expanding portfolio of Meallmore Care Homes.
The company celebrates its 30th anniversary and Culduthel Care Home joins the Meallmore family.
Meallmore is awarded silver status by Investors in People
Willow Lodge, a specialist mental health facility opens in Falkirk.
Greenan Manor, Ayr officially opened
The second generation takes the reins. Cillian Hennessey takes over as Managing Director as Gerry Hennessey retires from the role.
Meallmore breaks ground on Pitfodels Wood in Aberdeen and begins work renovating Kelvinside Manor in Glasgow.
In 2024, Kelvinside Manor opened its doors in Glasgow’s West End, transforming an outdated building into a luxurious care home. With 48 beautifully designed en-suite bedrooms, high-quality care, and a welcoming atmosphere, Kelvinside Manor embodies Meallmore’s commitment to creating great places to live and work.
