Antonine House Care Home in Bearsden is celebrating a Grade 5 following its latest Care Inspectorate visit, with positive feedback highlighting the quality of care, strong relationships and welcoming atmosphere across the home.
The three-day inspection included conversations with residents, relatives, colleagues and external professionals, alongside observations of everyday life throughout Antonine House.
Feedback was positive across all groups, with residents and relatives speaking warmly about the care they receive and the relationships they have built with colleagues.
Residents and families at the heart of the home
One of the strongest themes from the inspection was how well colleagues know the people they support.
Residents spoke highly of the team, while relatives described colleagues as responsive, kind and familiar with their loved ones individual needs and preferences.
That personal approach sits at the heart of life at Antonine House, where residents are supported with dementia care, nursing care, residential care, respite care and palliative care in a home designed around comfort, dignity and everyday choice.
During the inspection, the team was also observed supporting a resident who became distressed. The inspector noted how calmly and effectively colleagues responded, helping to reassure and support him in the moment.
A positive dining experience
Dining was another area recognised during the visit.
Mealtimes were observed to be warm and well supported, with residents increasingly involved in shaping menus through meetings and post-meal feedback.
The home's "Come Dine With" experience was viewed positively, while the chef was recognised for responding to individual preferences and resident feedback.
The cafe also stood out as a well-used part of the home, creating a relaxed space for residents and visitors to spend time together.
This reflects our wider approach to life in our care homes, where food, choice, meaningful activity and everyday relationships all play a part in helping residents feel genuinely at home.
Care built around the individual
Care plans reviewed during the inspection were described as detailed, clear and reflective of residents needs.
The inspector also noted the quality of medication records and the thorough approach to quality assurance within the home.
These systems sit behind the more visible parts of everyday life, helping colleagues provide consistent, person-centred support while responding proactively as residents needs change.
A team residents can rely on
Colleague feedback during the inspection was also positive, with many describing supportive management and a strong team culture.
For Antonine House Home Manager June McIntosh, the Grade 5 is a reflection of the commitment shown across the whole home.
