Meallmore appoints Graeme Currie as Property Director to lead expansion and new care home developments across Scotland.

Meallmore has appointed Graeme Currie as Property Director, marking a significant step in the group’s continued growth and long-term investment in high-quality care services across Scotland.
Graeme will be responsible for overseeing the expansion, refurbishment, maintenance and compliance of Meallmore’s property portfolio, supporting the delivery of modern, welcoming care environments that meet the needs of residents, colleagues and local communities.
The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the organisation, with several major developments underway and further growth planned as Meallmore continues to strengthen its presence across the country.
Graeme joins Meallmore from the University of Strathclyde, where he held the role of Assistant Director of Estates. During his time there, he played a key role in delivering major capital projects, including the £60 million Learning and Teaching Building and the £40 million National Manufacturing Institute Scotland.
A Chartered Quantity Surveyor with 34 years of experience, Graeme brings a strong track record across both private and quasi-public sector estates environments. His previous senior roles include positions with Cromwell Property Group and Heriot-Watt University, giving him a breadth of experience in managing complex estates, long-term asset planning and large-scale development programmes.
This depth of expertise will be central to supporting Meallmore’s next phase of growth, ensuring that every home is developed and maintained to the highest standards of safety, comfort and compliance.
Meallmore currently operates 27 care homes across Scotland, providing services for older people, adults with mental health needs, and adults with learning or physical disabilities. Alongside its existing homes, the organisation has three major developments underway that will significantly expand access to care in key locations.
These include Pitfodels Wood in Aberdeen, a flagship new home set to open within months, Sutherland House in Broughty Ferry, and a new development in Clarkston.
Together, these projects represent a substantial investment in Scotland’s care infrastructure, bringing more care services, new employment opportunities and modern facilities to the communities they serve.
Meallmore’s development strategy is rooted in more than bricks and mortar. Each new home is designed to become an integral part of its local area, creating jobs, supporting local suppliers and offering families peace of mind that high-quality care is available close to home.
By expanding into Aberdeen, Broughty Ferry and Clarkston, Meallmore is responding to growing demand for person-centred care while helping to strengthen local economies. These developments also support the organisation’s wider vision of delivering excellent care in great places to live and work.
Graeme’s role will be key in ensuring that new and existing homes reflect this ambition, combining thoughtful design with long-term sustainability and compliance.
Commenting on the appointment, Cillian Hennessey, Chief Executive Officer of Meallmore, highlighted the strategic importance of the role as the organisation enters its next phase of development.
He welcomed Graeme to the business at a time when multiple projects are progressing simultaneously, noting that his experience will help guide the delivery of new homes while supporting the ongoing investment and improvement of the existing portfolio.
Cillian also paid tribute to Michael Gillespie, who Graeme succeeds, thanking him for his positive contribution to the business over 17 years and wishing him well in his next chapter.
For Graeme, the role represents an opportunity to apply decades of experience across different sectors to a purpose-driven organisation.
Speaking about his appointment, he shared his enthusiasm for joining Meallmore and contributing to its future direction, highlighting his desire to work closely with colleagues across the business and support the continued success of the organisation.
With a strong pipeline of developments, a growing portfolio of care homes across Scotland and a clear focus on quality, safety and community impact, Meallmore’s investment in property leadership signals a confident and ambitious future.
As new homes come on stream and existing homes continue to evolve, Graeme’s appointment ensures that Meallmore is well positioned to deliver sustainable growth while maintaining the high standards of care that families across Scotland trust.
