Sutherland House Care Home is Meallmore’s newest purpose-built luxury care home, coming to Broughty Ferry, Dundee in Spring 2027. Situated on the site of a former hotel and overlooking the coastline, Sutherland House has been carefully designed to reflect the character of the local area while introducing a new standard of modern, high-quality care.
Located close to Broughty Ferry’s shops, cafés, transport links and coastal walks, the home offers an ideal balance of community connection, seaside surroundings and accessibility for families. The design retains elements of the site’s original charm while incorporating contemporary interiors, light-filled spaces and state-of-the-art facilities throughout.
Sutherland House will provide exceptional residential, nursing and dementia care, supporting individuals living with frailty, dementia and age-related health needs. Care will be delivered by highly trained colleagues, with a strong focus on dignity, independence and truly person-centred support. Household-style layouts will help create familiar, reassuring environments, allowing residents to feel settled, safe and at home.
The home will feature 54 private en-suite bedrooms, all with wet-floor shower rooms and fully accessible layouts, alongside a wide range of premium communal spaces. These include a café, cinema and activities room, hair and beauty salon, and a private dining room for family celebrations and special occasions. Bright lounges and dining areas on every floor will support social connection and everyday enjoyment.
Outdoor space is central to life at Sutherland House. Landscaped gardens, terraced seating areas and safe walkways will allow residents and families to enjoy time outdoors together, taking full advantage of the home’s coastal setting and fresh sea air.
As part of Meallmore’s continued investment in Scotland’s care sector, Sutherland House represents a significant investment into the local community and will create 60–70 new jobs across nursing, care, hospitality and support roles. It builds on Meallmore’s long-standing reputation for delivering excellent care in great places to live and work, underpinned by strong values, experienced leadership and consistently high standards across its homes.
Sutherland House Care Home will offer families in Broughty Ferry and the wider Dundee area confidence, reassurance and an outstanding care environment — combining thoughtful design, compassionate care and a genuine sense of home.
