St Modans Care Home earns a Grade 6 rating, wins a national Care Innovation Award and transforms resident wellbeing with its award-winning sensory roo

We are delighted to announce that the Meallmore Catering Team have been shortlisted in the 2025 NACC National Awards - one of the most respected accolades in care catering. This nomination is a proud moment, reflecting our unwavering commitment to excellent mealtimes, resident wellbeing, innovation, and our core values of Create, Act, Recognise, and Engage.
These awards recognise excellence, innovation, dedication and impact within the care catering sector. The winners will be revealed during the gala dinner on 2nd October 2025, part of the NACC Training & Development Forum.
Good food isn’t just about meals - it’s basic wellbeing, dignity, comfort and connection. In the UK, nearly 30% of older adults in care homes are at risk of malnutrition, compared to just 3% of those living independently at home. Mealtimes influence physical health, mood, hydration and overall quality of life. High-quality catering in care settings isn’t just hospitality - it’s essential care.
By being shortlisted, Meallmore is celebrated for delivering tangible benefits:
This recognition aligns closely with our C.A.R.E. values:
Meallmore doesn’t just serve basics- we nurture wellbeing, independence and joy through every meal. The nomination is a testament to that culture.
Since 2024, Jody Marshall has also taken on the role of Chair of NACC’s Scotland Region, advocating for nutrition and hydration excellence across the sector. His leadership continues to raise standards not only at Meallmore but across Scottish care catering.
Care home catering isn’t just a side note - it’s vital to outcomes. Research shows improving mealtimes, choosing the right menu, and meaningful presentation all contribute to improved nutritional status and wellbeing. When residents enjoy their meals, it supports hydration, reduces anxiety and boosts physical resilience.
Our nomination reflects this standard of care:
To be shortlisted is already a win. It reflects the skill, creativity and compassion of our catering team and Jody’s leadership. It also reflects every colleague, resident and family member who shares feedback, inspiration, stories and encouragement.
The winners will be announced at the awards gala in October, but this moment is already a celebration. No matter the outcome, the recognition highlights Meallmore’s role as a sector leader in care catering.
As we continue to innovate and prioritise person-centred mealtimes, this nomination encourages us to keep raising the bar. We will continue investing in nutritious menus, training, team growth and nurturing every moment shared around the dining table.
We’re committed to sharing knowledge, advice, and updates from across our care homes and the world of care. Read our latest articles, resident stories, and company updates.
