We are delighted to share that we are opening our 30th care home in Scotland. Eaglesham House Care Home in Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, will welcome its first residents in spring 2027, and it will be our ninth home in the Greater Glasgow and West Scotland region.
For us, this is far more than a new building. It is a £15m investment in a community we already know well, and it is our answer to a question we hear every week from families searching for care homes in Glasgow and the surrounding areas: where can Mum or Dad live well, safely, and with real nursing expertise on hand around the clock?
A new nursing home in Clarkston, East Renfrewshire
Eaglesham House will provide personalised nursing care and support for 50 people, including those living with dementia and its related conditions. The home is purpose built and state of the art, designed from the ground up around how people actually want to live rather than around what is easiest to run.
It sits on the former grounds of Greenbank Church in Clarkston, a location that matters to us. Families looking for a care home in East Renfrewshire have told us for years that they want to keep their loved one close to home, close to the shops and streets they know, and within an easy visit for grandchildren after school. Eaglesham House does exactly that.
What life at Eaglesham House will look like
We have designed every space with relaxing, socialising and everyday enjoyment in mind. When the doors open, residents will find:
- Private ensuite bedrooms, each one a genuine personal space rather than a room on a corridor
- A cinema room for film afternoons, live-streamed events and family film nights
- An on-site hair salon, because feeling like yourself matters
- A champagne bar for celebrations, visits and the small moments worth marking
- Comfortable lounges and dining spaces designed to bring people together
- 24-hour nursing care and specialist dementia support built into daily life
Our chief executive, Cillian Hennessey, put it best:
“Eaglesham House is a fantastic addition to our care home portfolio. This modern, luxury home will be finished to the highest standards and is designed for people who want to live well, with the reassurance of expert 24-hour nursing care and support around them. It will provide a safe, comfortable and homely environment for residents, where they can feel part of a warm community. Our experience from managing eight other homes in this region of Scotland means we are very well-equipped with knowledge of the area and will look to continue building strong connections with local members of the public and community groups.
“We’re very proud to be opening what will be our 30th care home and look forward to welcoming residents to Eaglesham House next year.”
Specialist dementia care at the heart of the home
Around two thirds of people living in Scottish care homes are living with some form of dementia, and demand for specialist dementia care in Glasgow and the west continues to grow. Eaglesham House has been designed with that reality built in, not bolted on: clear sightlines, calm and legible interiors, secure outdoor access, and colleagues trained to support people through every stage of the condition.
Earlier this year we were named in the Top 20 Large Care Home Groups across the UK for the first time, and our dementia care was a significant part of that recognition. We take that seriously, and Eaglesham House will carry the same standards.
Around 80 new care home jobs in Glasgow and East Renfrewshire
Once open, Eaglesham House will create in the region of 80 full time equivalent jobs. That includes nurses, care assistants, services team members, administrators and management roles. Recruitment begins in September.
If you are looking for care home jobs in the Glasgow area and you want to be part of a home from its very first day, this is a rare opportunity. Being part of an opening team means shaping the culture rather than inheriting it, and in our experience those teams stay together for years.
Where Eaglesham House fits in our Scottish care homes
We currently operate 27 homes across Scotland: 21 for older people, five for adults with mental health needs, and one for adults with learning or physical disabilities. Alongside Eaglesham House, two further new homes are nearing completion, providing services for elderly people in Aberdeen City and Broughty Ferry.
That growth is deliberate. Scotland’s population is ageing, and the need for modern, well-designed nursing homes is rising faster than the supply of them. Rather than stretch older buildings to do a job they were never designed for, we build homes that are fit for the next 40 years of care.
