Pitfodels Wood, our new care home on North Deeside Road in Aberdeen, opens in winter 2026. Ahead of that, we are opening a private invitation to the first ten people who will live there: the Pitfodels Wood Founders'' Circle.
It is a one-year experience, offered once, at the very beginning. The idea behind it is simple. A new home does not arrive fully formed. Its routines, its menus, its celebrations and the small habits that make a place feel familiar are all built in the first months, by the people who are there. We would rather build them with the first residents than present them as finished.
What the Founders'' Circle includes
A welcome considered around you. A specially created welcome hamper is prepared for arrival and personalised wherever possible, with a luxury robe and stationery, a pillow menu chosen for comfort and support, a choice of signature bedroom fragrance, and hand-care, treats and limited-edition postcards. Small details, but they are the ones that make the first days feel more personal.
Time together with family. Six complimentary private dining occasions during the first year, each shared with up to four family members or friends, with a meal from the chef''s select menu and a bottle of house wine. Moving into a care home should not mean the end of hosting the people you love.
A voice from day one. Founders are invited to fortnightly feedback sessions through the first year, covering food, menus and dining; activities, events and local connections; seasonal celebrations and traditions; and the everyday experience of residents and families. This sits alongside the wider resident involvement that runs in every Meallmore home, so everyone can help shape life at Pitfodels Wood.
Part of the story. The formal year comes to an end, but being an original Founder does not. The Founders Book keeps a lasting record of the people who helped create the first chapter, Founders can be recognised on the Founders Wall with their consent, and Founder events continue as the home grows.
The home itself
Pitfodels Wood sits within the Pitfodels Conservation Area, close to Cults and a short drive from Aberdeen''s West End. There are 65 private en-suite bedrooms, with selected balconies looking over woodland or the Deeside Valley, alongside lounges, a café, a cinema room, a salon, restaurant-style dining and landscaped gardens with terraces and woodland walkways.
The home will offer nursing, dementia, residential, respite and palliative care, shaped around individual needs, routines and preferences.
