As our new Aberdeen care home takes shape, we are building local links by supporting a charitable venture close to our values, Wish Ambulance Scotland.
Our team at Pitfodels Wood Care Home has become the first business to pledge support to the cause, donating £500 to the 500 Wishes campaign.
A final journey to somewhere that matters
Set up by three Aberdeen paramedics, Wish Ambulance Scotland launched in July with the aim of granting terminally ill patients around Scotland a final journey to a place or event that is special to them. Based on a Dutch model, the not-for-profit venture will use a fully equipped ambulance to take people approaching the end of life somewhere meaningful.
We recognised straight away how closely the charity's values sit alongside our own, so our team at Pitfodels Wood is championing the venture: donating funds and calling on other local businesses to get behind the campaign.

About our new Aberdeen home
Situated in Pitfodels, North Deeside Road in Aberdeen, our Pitfodels Wood Care Home is set to open in winter 2026, offering spacious private en-suite bedrooms, a cinema room, café, hair and beauty salon and restaurant-style dining spaces. We will care for residents with a range of support needs, including dementia and palliative care.
As Scotland's leading provider of older person and specialist care, we currently operate 27 homes across the country: 21 for older people, five for adults with mental health needs and one for adults with learning or physical disability. Three new homes are in development, which will provide services for elderly people in Aberdeen City, Broughty Ferry and Clarkston.
