Grove Care Home Celebrates Very Good Inspection

Grove Care Home in Kemnay, Inverurie is celebrating a strong inspection result following a recent Care Inspectorate visit, with the home achieving Grade 5 – Very Good for key aspects of care and support.

The inspection took place on 16th and 17th April 2026 and focused on core assurances and Key Question 1.3. Inspectors spoke with residents and relatives during the visit, with feedback described as overwhelmingly positive.

The result reflects the dedication, warmth and professionalism of the team at Grove, and highlights the home’s strong sense of community, person-centred care and welcoming environment. A true reflection of all our Meallmore care homes across Scotland.

A Warm and Welcoming Care Home in Inverurie

Inspectors described Grove Care Home as welcoming, relaxed and holistic in its approach, with colleagues engaging positively throughout the inspection.

The feedback highlighted the calm, homely feel within the service, noting that residents were well cared for and supported with attention to detail in their personal care, including hair, nails and clothing.

For residents and families looking for a care home in Inverurie or Kemnay, this sense of comfort, dignity and personal attention is incredibly important. A care home should feel safe and supportive, but also familiar, warm and personal.

At Grove, colleagues work hard to create an environment where residents feel settled, valued and known as individuals.

A Whole Home Approach to Care

One of the strongest themes from the inspection was the positive relationships between residents and colleagues across all departments.

Inspectors recognised a clear whole home approach, where colleagues from care, hospitality, housekeeping, activities and leadership all contribute to residents’ experience.

This is central to Meallmore’s approach. Great care is not delivered by one person or one department alone - it is created by the whole team working together to support residents in daily life.

At Grove, colleagues were recognised for taking time to engage with residents and for making a real difference to people’s outcomes. This reflects a strong culture of kindness, respect and person-centred support.

Person-Centred Care and Positive Outcomes

The inspection recognised strong person-centred care at Grove, with residents supported in a way that reflects their needs, preferences and individual routines.

Care plans were described as detailed, easy to read and conversational in style, helping colleagues understand residents as people, not just through their care needs.

This is an important part of creating a great place to live. Person-centred care means knowing what matters to each resident — their interests, relationships, daily routines, choices and goals.

At Meallmore, this approach is at the heart of every home. Whether someone requires nursing care, dementia care, respite care or support later in life, the focus remains on dignity, individuality and living well.

Meaningful Activity and Community Connection

Inspectors highlighted the strength and variety of activities at Grove, recognising that they were shaped around residents’ interests and enjoyment.

Activities were noted as having a positive impact on resident wellbeing, supporting social interaction both inside and outside the home. Feedback also highlighted good community links and visibility within the local area.

This is an important part of life at Grove. Meaningful activity is not simply about keeping busy - it is about connection, purpose, confidence and enjoyment.

Whether residents are taking part in group activities, spending time in the garden, enjoying visits from the local community or simply sharing everyday moments with others, these experiences help create a strong sense of belonging.

A Real Community Feel

The inspection feedback described Grove Care Home as having a “real community feel”, with energy throughout the home while maintaining a calm and comfortable atmosphere.

This sense of community is one of the most important aspects of care home life. It comes from relationships - between residents, families, colleagues and the wider local community.

At Grove, this community spirit is supported by a stable team who know residents well and understand the impact they have on each person’s daily experience.

For families, knowing that their loved one is supported by colleagues who understand their needs, preferences and personality brings reassurance and peace of mind.

Dining, Hospitality and Everyday Comfort

The inspection also highlighted positive feedback around meals and hospitality within the home, noting that meals were well presented and that residents had good access to drinks and refreshments.

Grove’s servery area was recognised as a positive feature, providing families with the opportunity to help themselves to drinks and spend time comfortably within the home.

At Meallmore, hospitality is an important part of everyday care. Mealtimes are moments of comfort, routine, social connection and enjoyment. Creating a welcoming dining experience supports not only nutrition and hydration, but also quality of life.

This reflects Meallmore’s wider focus on providing care that supports the whole person - physically, emotionally and socially.

A Homely, Comfortable Environment

Inspectors recognised that the home was clean, well maintained and homely, with furnishings thoughtfully placed and space used well throughout the service.

The feedback highlighted the domestic feel of the home and the care taken to create a comfortable environment for residents.

For those considering a care home in Aberdeenshire, the environment plays a key role in helping someone feel settled. A home should support independence, comfort, dignity and connection - while also feeling familiar and welcoming.

At Grove, this sense of home is reflected in the day-to-day atmosphere, the care shown by colleagues and the relationships built with residents and families.

Strong Teamwork and Clinical Oversight

The Care Inspectorate feedback also recognised strong processes in place to support resident wellbeing, including effective multidisciplinary support and prompt referrals where needed.

The home’s clinical oversight was highlighted positively, alongside the knowledge and awareness shown by the team in supporting residents to remain well.

Strong communication, good leadership and a stable team all contribute to safe, responsive care. At Grove, colleagues understand residents well and are committed to supporting positive outcomes.

This reflects Meallmore’s vision to be Scotland’s most trusted care provider, consistently delivering excellent care in great places to live and work.

Creating a Great Place to Live and Work

The positive inspection feedback is a proud moment for everyone at Grove Care Home.

From person-centred care and meaningful activity to strong relationships, community links and a welcoming environment, the result reflects the dedication of colleagues across the whole home.

Meallmore’s C.A.R.E values guide how teams work every day:

  • Create environments of kindness where everyone feels welcome
  • Act with accountability to deliver high standards of care
