The Home

Life at
Grove Care Home

Choosing a care home is a significant decision, and at Grove we want residents and families to feel informed, reassured and supported from the very beginning.

Grove Care Home is located in the village of Kemnay, around 16 miles from Aberdeen, and offers a welcoming environment where care is shaped around the individual. The home is intended to feel calm, familiar and genuinely supportive, helping residents feel comfortable while maintaining as much independence, dignity and routine as possible.

Our colleagues take time to understand each resident as a person - their care needs, personal history, routines, relationships, interests and the things that help them feel secure and at home. Individual care plans help ensure support is responsive, personal and able to adapt if needs change.

A supportive and personalised approach to care

At Grove, care always begins with the individual. Every resident has their own preferences, life experiences, abilities and support needs, and these shape how care is provided every day. The home offers 24-hour nursing care, personalised dementia care and short-stay respite care, with families welcome to be involved in discussions and decisions where appropriate.

Types of care available at Grove

If dementia is part of the picture, our dementia guides explain what to expect and what to ask when comparing homes.

Working with families

Home Manager Isla Cowe and the team keep families involved from the first enquiry onwards. Care plans are written with the resident and, where appropriate, the people closest to them, then reviewed as needs change. Visitors are welcome, and you are encouraged to look around properly, meet colleagues and ask whatever you need to ask before making a decision. You can also compare Grove side by side with other Meallmore homes.

Care Inspectorate

Grove is registered with and inspected by the Care Inspectorate, the independent regulator for care services in Scotland. Their published reports and current grades for the home are available on the Care Inspectorate website.

Understanding the cost of care in Scotland

What you pay depends on your financial circumstances and the outcome of a local authority assessment. Free personal and nursing care contributions are available to eligible residents in Scotland, and Aberdeenshire Council carries out the financial assessment that determines any contribution towards fees. Our funding advice page and our guides library explain how this works in plain terms. This is general information, not financial or legal advice - please take independent advice on your own circumstances.

Meet the manager

Isla,
Home Manager at Grove Care Home.

Isla Cowe · Care Home Manager

Hello, I'm Isla Cowe, and I'm proud to be the Home Manager at Grove Care Home. My focus is on creating a warm, welcoming and supportive home where residents feel safe, respected and genuinely cared for. I believe good care begins with taking the time to understand each person as an individual - their needs, routines, preferences, relationships and the things that matter most to them. At Grove, we want residents to feel comfortable and at home, while families feel reassured that their loved one is being supported with kindness, dignity and compassion. It is also important to me that our colleagues feel valued and supported, because a positive home environment depends on people working together with care and respect. We aim to create a home where residents can enjoy companionship, meaningful daily life and a strong sense of belonging in the Kemnay community.
