The Home

Life at
Crimond House Care Home

Choosing a care home is a significant decision, and at Crimond House we want residents and families to feel listened to, informed and supported from their first conversation with us.

Crimond House Care Home is situated in the North East village of Crimond in Aberdeenshire. Our purpose-built 53-bed home provides nursing care, dementia care and short-stay respite care within a comfortable, welcoming and supportive environment.

Our experienced colleagues take time to understand each resident as an individual. This includes their health and care needs, preferred routines, interests, personal history and the things that help them feel most comfortable. Care plans are shaped around the individual and reviewed as needs change, helping residents retain choice, dignity and a sense of independence.

With comfortable en-suite accommodation, seven lounge and dining areas, a specialist dementia wing, an activities and reminiscence room, a hairdressing and beauty salon and secure gardens, residents have access to a range of spaces in which to relax, socialise and enjoy everyday life.

Personalised nursing and dementia care

Crimond House provides 24-hour nursing care for residents who require ongoing support from qualified nurses. Every resident's care is planned around their individual health needs, personal preferences and daily routines, helping support comfort, wellbeing and quality of life.

The home also has a specialist on-site dementia wing for people living with dementia and related conditions. Our approach focuses on providing familiar routines, reassurance and respectful support while recognising each resident's identity, life story and individual way of communicating.

Families are an important part of this process. We aim to keep relatives informed and involved, where appropriate, so that care remains responsive to the resident and can adapt as their needs develop.

Comfortable rooms and welcoming shared spaces

Bedrooms at Crimond House have been designed to provide residents with a comfortable and personal space of their own. The home offers en-suite accommodation, including large dual-aspect deluxe rooms, with television and Wi-Fi available.

Residents are encouraged to make their room feel familiar by bringing photographs, decorations and meaningful belongings, subject to the home's usual safety requirements.

Throughout the home, seven lounge and dining areas provide a choice of places to spend the day. Residents can enjoy meals with others, take part in activities, welcome visitors or find a quieter space to relax. The dedicated hairdressing and beauty salon also gives residents an opportunity to continue familiar personal-care routines within the home.

Independence, activities and everyday wellbeing

Life at Crimond House is shaped around the interests, abilities and preferences of the people who live here. Our activities programme provides opportunities for residents to socialise, continue favourite hobbies, try something different or spend time doing what matters most to them.

The home's activities and reminiscence room provides a dedicated space for meaningful engagement, conversation and familiar experiences. Residents can choose whether they wish to participate in organised activities, enjoy individual interests or have a quieter day.

Nutritious meals are prepared by the home's on-site chef team and served within the lounge and dining areas, with individual dietary needs and preferences considered as part of each resident's care and daily routine. Residents can also enjoy fresh air and time outdoors within the secure gardens and planted areas.

Meet the manager

Nicola,
Home Manager at Crimond House Care Home.

Nicola Reid · Care Home Manager

Hello, I'm Nicola, the Care Home Manager at Crimond House. I bring more than 20 years of experience in nursing and care home leadership to my role.

I began my nursing career in 2004 after qualifying in Nursing - Children and Young People at Robert Gordon University. I later joined Meallmore at Kynnaird House, where I discovered a real passion for elderly care and progressed to the role of Clinical Lead during my 18 years there.

I then joined Meallmore's Care Home Support Team in Aberdeenshire as a Senior Care Home Support Nurse. This gave me the opportunity to work across several homes, provide training, support quality improvement and strengthen understanding of Care Inspectorate standards.

Taking part in the Queen's Nurse Development Programme was another important part of my professional development and helped shape my approach to leadership and person-centred care.

At Crimond House, my focus is on creating a home where residents feel safe, supported, respected and able to live well. I am also passionate about helping our colleagues grow in confidence and develop their skills, because a positive and well-supported team is central to delivering high-quality care every day.
