The Home
Life at
Leven Beach Care Home
Choosing a care home is an important decision, and at Leven Beach we want residents and families to feel listened to, reassured and supported from their first conversation with us.
Leven Beach Care Home is a purpose-built 52-bed home situated on the promenade in Leven, Fife. Overlooking the Firth of Forth, the home provides nursing care, dementia care, residential care, short-stay respite care and palliative care within a comfortable and welcoming coastal environment.
Our experienced colleagues take time to understand each resident as an individual. This includes their health and care needs, routines, interests, communication preferences, relationships, personal history and the things that help them feel comfortable. Personalised care plans allow support to be shaped around the person and reviewed as needs or circumstances change.
Residents have access to fully furnished en-suite bedrooms, three lounges, two combined lounge and dining areas and a dedicated dining room. The home also has a hair and beauty salon, quieter spaces, secure landscaped gardens and an outdoor terrace.
The promenade location and views across the Firth of Forth give Leven Beach a distinctive sense of place. Residents can enjoy fresh coastal air, spend time with visitors, take part in activities or relax within the home's indoor and outdoor spaces.
Care shaped around each resident
Care at Leven Beach begins by listening to the resident and, where appropriate, the people who know them best. Our colleagues take time to understand each person's health needs, routines, abilities, interests and preferences. This helps daily support feel personal rather than expecting every resident to follow the same timetable.
Leven Beach provides nursing, dementia, residential, respite and palliative care. Individual care plans help ensure that support remains responsive and can adapt if someone's health or circumstances change. The aim is to provide reassurance and dependable care while protecting dignity, identity, choice and as much independence as possible. Families are an important part of care and should feel informed, welcomed and involved where appropriate.
Specialist nursing and dementia care in Leven
Leven Beach provides 24-hour nursing care for residents whose health needs require ongoing support from qualified nurses. Care considers each person's health, medication, mobility, routines, preferences and overall wellbeing. The purpose-built environment allows nursing support to be delivered within surroundings that remain comfortable and homely rather than unnecessarily clinical.
The home also provides compassionate dementia care for people living with Alzheimer's and related conditions. Care recognises the resident beyond their diagnosis - understanding their identity, communication style, familiar routines, relationships and life story helps colleagues provide more meaningful and reassuring support. Visiting physiotherapy, podiatry, GP and Community Mental Health Team input may form part of the wider professional support available.
Residential care and everyday support
Residential care at Leven Beach is available for older people who would benefit from support with everyday living but do not require continuous nursing care. Residents can receive personalised assistance with daily routines within a comfortable and sociable home environment.
Support promotes independence rather than taking over tasks a resident can still manage. Residents continue to make choices about their routine, meals, activities, visitors and how they spend their time. The home's different lounges, dining areas, activities and coastal surroundings provide opportunities for companionship while respecting the need for privacy and quieter time.
Respite care and short stays
Leven Beach offers respite and short-stay care for people who require temporary support. A respite stay may be helpful following illness, during a period of recovery, while a family carer takes a break or when someone would like to experience life in the home before considering a longer-term move.
Care during a short stay is personalised around the resident's health needs, routines and preferences. Residents receiving respite care can access the home's meals, activities, communal spaces, salon and outdoor areas throughout their stay. Availability and suitability should always be discussed directly with the home before arrangements are made.
Palliative care with dignity and compassion
Leven Beach provides palliative and end-of-life care for residents living with life-limiting conditions. Care focuses on comfort, dignity, quality of life and compassionate support for the resident and the people closest to them.
Support is personalised around the resident's needs, wishes, preferences, beliefs and symptoms. Families are treated with sensitivity and understanding during what can be a particularly emotional and difficult time. The home's private en-suite rooms and comfortable shared spaces allow residents to receive care within familiar and reassuring surroundings.
Fully furnished en-suite bedrooms
Leven Beach offers 52 fully furnished en-suite bedrooms designed to give residents a comfortable and private space of their own. Rooms include television and Wi-Fi, while tea and coffee services and laundry and domestic support contribute to everyday comfort.
Residents are encouraged to personalise their bedroom with suitable photographs, decorations and treasured belongings, subject to available space and normal safety requirements. Parts of the home and selected bedrooms benefit from views across the Firth of Forth and towards the bridges - these views are not attributed to every bedroom. Individual room requirements, outlooks and current availability should always be discussed directly with the home.
A seafront care home in the heart of Leven
Leven Beach is situated on the town's promenade, overlooking the Firth of Forth and close to the beachfront. The coastal location provides a peaceful backdrop to daily life and allows residents to enjoy fresh sea air within the home's secure outdoor areas.
The secure garden and terrace offer places to relax, socialise with relatives and friends or take part in light gardening when appropriate. Direct access to the Leven beachfront is a distinctive feature of the home, but any outings beyond the grounds reflect the resident's wishes, mobility, care needs and appropriate support.
Facilities designed for comfort and community
Leven Beach has three lounges, two combined lounge and dining areas and a dedicated dining room. These spaces give residents a choice of places to enjoy meals, socialise, take part in activities or spend time with visiting family and friends.
For quieter moments, residents can choose a more peaceful space for reading, reflection or individual interests. The on-site hair and beauty salon allows residents to maintain familiar personal-care routines without leaving the home. The choice of shared and quieter spaces helps daily life feel flexible and supports residents to spend their time in ways that suit them.
Activities and community connections
Meaningful activity is an important part of life at Meallmore. The dedicated Activities Coordinator arranges a varied programme intended to support residents' physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing.
Verified examples include arts and crafts, music sessions, local outings, community engagement and visits from entertainers. The home has also previously welcomed visits connected with a local nursery and primary school. Residents are supported to continue existing hobbies, explore new interests or choose a quieter day. Participation always remains a matter of personal choice.
Freshly prepared food and everyday hospitality
Nutritious and enjoyable food is an important part of residents' health, comfort and daily routine. Meals are freshly prepared by the in-house catering team using seasonal ingredients and take account of individual dietary requirements, preferences and care needs.
Residents can enjoy meals within the dedicated dining room or the home's combined lounge and dining spaces. The different dining environments allow residents to choose a more social or quieter setting where this can be safely accommodated. Refreshments are also available to help residents maintain familiar routines and enjoy time with visitors.
A warm welcome for families in Fife
Family involvement is an important part of life at Leven Beach. Relatives and friends are welcomed and have access to comfortable spaces where they can spend meaningful time with residents.
The lounges, dining spaces, gardens and terrace provide different options for visits depending on the resident's preferences and the weather. Families can also provide valuable insight into a resident's routines, relationships, history and the things that help them feel most comfortable. Visiting arrangements remain subject to the home's current operational guidance and individual resident needs.

Karen,
Home Manager at Leven Beach Care Home.
Karen Radford · Care Home Manager
“At Leven Beach, our residents are at the heart of everything we do. I'm proud to lead a team that values openness, honesty and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality care.
We take time to understand every resident as an individual, including their needs, routines, interests, relationships and the things that help them feel most comfortable.
It is important to us that residents can continue enjoying the activities and hobbies that were part of their lives before moving into the home. Our activities programme provides opportunities for social connection, creativity, music, local outings and engagement with the wider Leven community.
The home has five lounge spaces, including two combined lounge and dining areas, as well as a dedicated dining room. This gives residents a choice of comfortable places in which to socialise, enjoy meals, welcome visitors or spend quieter time.
Our hair and beauty salon also helps residents maintain familiar personal-care routines within the home.
We are particularly proud of the reputation Leven Beach has built within the local community. Relationships with residents, relatives, entertainers, schools and local groups help make the home feel connected to the town around us.
My focus is on ensuring every resident receives thoughtful, personalised care and is supported to live with dignity, choice, companionship and as much independence as possible.”
