Residents, families, colleagues and local businesses have come together at Kincaid House Care Home in Greenock to raise an incredible £2,000 for Ardgowan Hospice.
The fundraising event brought the wider Kincaid House community together for a day packed with activities, entertainment and plenty of opportunities to support a charity that holds a particularly special place in the hearts of colleagues at the home.
From raffle and tombola stalls to face painting, a balloon artist, magician and bake sale, there was something happening throughout the day. Residents, families, friends and visitors all got involved, before local entertainer Bill McKillop rounded off the afternoon with a performance enjoyed by everyone at the home.
Supporting a charity close to home
Ardgowan Hospice is an independent local charity supporting people living with life-shortening conditions and their families across Inverclyde and beyond.
For the Kincaid House team, however, the connection is also a deeply personal one.
Last year, Jennifer McNeil, a relative of Kincaid House colleague Pamela Cousin, spent her final days at Ardgowan Hospice, where she and her family received care and support.
That experience made choosing Ardgowan Hospice as the beneficiary of the fundraiser particularly meaningful to Pamela and the wider team.
Being able to raise £2,000 is Kincaid House's way of giving something back to an organisation that has supported people and families within the local community when they have needed it most.
A real Kincaid community effort
The success of the event would not have been possible without the support of people from across Greenock and the surrounding area.
Local businesses generously donated raffle prizes, while residents, relatives, friends and colleagues helped organise activities, bought tickets, donated, volunteered and joined the celebrations on the day.
A particularly big thank you goes to the Kincaid House Activities Team, whose planning and hard work brought all the different parts of the event together.
Their efforts helped turn a fundraising idea into a day that residents could genuinely be part of, while strengthening the connections between the home and the community around it.
Staying connected with Greenock and Inverclyde
Community connection is an important part of everyday life at Kincaid House.
Located in Greenock, Kincaid House provides residential, nursing, dementia, palliative and short-stay respite care, with the home organised into three smaller care communities to help residents build familiar relationships and enjoy meaningful everyday experiences.
Activities, events and local partnerships provide opportunities for residents to stay connected with the people and organisations around them, whether that means supporting a local charity, welcoming the community into the home or simply spending time together doing something enjoyable. You can read more about life in our homes and the other care homes we run across Scotland.
This fundraiser was a brilliant example of that in action.
To every local business that donated a prize, every family member and friend who came along, every resident who joined in and every colleague who gave their time to make the day happen, thank you.
Together, the Kincaid House community has raised an amazing £2,000 for Ardgowan Hospice, supporting a local charity that means a great deal to so many people across Inverclyde.
