Finding the right specialist care placement is an important decision, and at Manor Care Centre we want prospective residents, families and professionals to feel listened to, informed and supported from their first conversation with us.

Manor Care Centre is a purpose-built 43-bed specialist home located in Nairn in the Scottish Highlands. The home provides Specialist Adult Care and Dementia Care for people whose needs may include physical disabilities, neurological conditions or learning disabilities.

Our experienced colleagues take time to understand each resident as an individual - their physical and emotional wellbeing, communication preferences, abilities, routines, interests, relationships, personal history and the goals that matter to them. Personalised support plans allow care to be shaped around the individual and reviewed as their needs or circumstances change.

The home is organised into three distinct care units, helping support different parts of each person's care journey. Residents have access to fully furnished en-suite rooms, accessible communal spaces, three lounges, a sensory room, therapy and activity spaces and an on-site cafeteria. Outside, the secure garden, gazebo and polytunnel provide opportunities to relax, enjoy fresh air and take part in gardening.

Manor also provides a separate flexible support service for up to 30 adults with learning disabilities and older people from the surrounding community. This service is clearly distinguished from the 43-bed care home.

Purpose-built specialist care in Nairn

Manor Care Centre has been purpose-built to provide a safe, supportive and accessible environment for adults with a range of specialist care needs. The ground-level layout, automatic doors and accessible communal areas help residents move around the home more comfortably, supporting independence wherever possible while ensuring appropriate care and assistance remain available.

Care is personalised rather than based on a standard routine. Our colleagues take time to understand each person's abilities, preferences, communication needs and goals before support is planned. Residents are involved in decisions about their care and daily lives wherever possible, with families and relevant professionals contributing to planning and reviews when appropriate. Every prospective resident is individually assessed to confirm that Manor has the right environment, professional experience and facilities to meet their needs safely.

Three dedicated care units

Manor Care Centre is divided into three distinct care units, each intended to support different aspects of the care journey. This structure helps the larger 43-bed home feel more organised and familiar, allowing residents to become accustomed to the colleagues, communal areas and other people within their part of the home.

Residents can enjoy their own private room while also having access to lounges, dining spaces, activities and quieter areas. Placement within a particular unit depends on the resident's assessment, support needs and care plan.

Support for physical, neurological and learning disabilities

Manor provides specialist care for people whose needs may include physical disabilities, neurological conditions or learning disabilities. Our service references experience supporting people living with Huntington's disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and other neurological illnesses.

Support is always based on the individual rather than the name of a diagnosis. Two people living with the same condition may have very different abilities, communication needs, routines and personal goals. Our colleagues work with residents, families and relevant professionals to develop support that promotes safety, wellbeing, dignity and meaningful participation in daily life. Suitability is assessed individually.

Personalised nursing and rehabilitation support

Personalised nursing support forms an important part of Manor's specialist provision. Care reflects each resident's health requirements, medication, mobility, communication preferences, routines and goals.

The home also offers long-term support, short stays and rehabilitation as elements of the wider Specialist Adult Care provision rather than separate headline services. Rehabilitation support may help a resident maintain abilities, rebuild confidence or work towards individual goals - progress will be different for every person. The home works with relevant external professionals to provide coordinated support where appropriate.

Compassionate dementia care

Dementia Care is one of Manor Care Centre's two headline care services. The home provides compassionate support for people living with dementia who require a safe and supportive environment and may no longer be able to maintain their independence without assistance.

Care recognises each person beyond their diagnosis. Understanding the resident's identity, life story, routines, communication style, interests and relationships helps colleagues provide more meaningful and reassuring support. Comfort, dignity and wellbeing remain central to the care plan, with residents involved in everyday choices wherever possible.

Accessible en-suite accommodation

Manor Care Centre offers fully furnished en-suite rooms designed around privacy, comfort, accessibility and safety. Accessible layouts help support people with physical disabilities, while modern assistive technology can provide additional reassurance and practical support.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their room with photographs, decorations and familiar belongings, subject to available space and normal safety requirements. Some relevant accommodation may include living or kitchenette facilities intended to encourage greater independence - these features are not standard in every room.

Assistive technology and accessible design

Modern assistive technology is used within Manor Care Centre to support residents' comfort, safety and independence. The purpose-built environment also includes features such as automatic doors and accessible routes through the home. Technology and accessibility measures are personalised around the individual rather than used as a substitute for human support, and are selected and reviewed according to each resident's assessed needs.

Manor has three lounge areas where residents can relax, socialise, take part in activities or spend time with visiting family members. The sensory room provides an additional environment that may support relaxation, engagement or personalised sensory experiences.

Activity, recreational and therapy spaces create opportunities for meaningful daily living tailored around residents' interests and goals. Whether joining a group activity, spending time with others or enjoying a quieter day, participation always remains a matter of personal choice.

Activities, confidence and community engagement

Meaningful activities can support health, wellbeing, confidence, communication and social connection. Verified examples referenced by Manor include therapeutic activities, swimming, shopping trips, social gatherings, daily companionship and wider community engagement.

Activities are selected around each resident's needs, interests, abilities and personal goals rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme. Community engagement can help residents remain connected to life beyond the home where this is appropriate and supported.

Dining and the on-site cafeteria

Nutritious and enjoyable food is an important part of residents' health, comfort and everyday routine. Meals are prepared by Manor's catering colleagues and can be enjoyed within the home's dining spaces.

The on-site cafeteria provides another welcoming setting where residents can share refreshments or meals with family members. Food and dining support takes account of individual preferences, dietary requirements and any assistance the resident needs, with mealtimes offering valuable opportunities for social connection while respecting those who prefer a quieter dining experience.

Secure gardens, gazebo and polytunnel

Manor Care Centre has a secure garden where residents can enjoy fresh air and time outdoors within an accessible environment. The gazebo provides a sheltered place to relax, socialise or spend time with visitors, and the polytunnel creates opportunities for residents who enjoy planting, gardening and other seasonal activities.

Accessible paths and wheelchair-friendly routes help residents use the outdoor space according to their mobility and individual support needs. The home's Nairn setting, close to the Moray coastline, contributes to its calm and airy surroundings.

A flexible support service for the local community

Alongside the 43-bed care centre, Manor provides a flexible support service for up to 30 adults with learning disabilities and older people from the local community. The support service operates within a purpose-built, single-storey environment intended to feel pleasant, comfortable and inclusive.

Support plans are developed in partnership with attendees and, where appropriate, their families. Activities and opportunities are then tailored around individual needs, preferences and desired outcomes. Verified examples include therapeutic activities, social interaction, swimming, shopping trips, social gatherings and daily companionship. The support service is distinct from the residential care-home provision and its capacity is not combined with the 43-bed home.

Working with residents, families and professionals

Strong communication is an important part of providing consistent specialist care.
